How can I introduce and integrate Competencies and Skills into my syllabus and assignments?

There are many formal and informal ways to integrate career conversations into your syllabus and assignments, including the value of skill development and the Competencies that employers and graduate schools seek. Since Competencies, including critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication, already align with many of your existing course learning goals, consider adding language to your syllabus or an assignment that helps students make the link between these skills and future careers.

By making these connections explicit, you can help your students understand how their academic learning is applicable, identify transferable skills, build confidence, and strengthen career readiness.  If interested, contact the Greene Center to brainstorm ideas and review assignment examples connected to your course learning goals.
