What is a Career Community?

Career Communities are a tailored network that connects you with with people, information, and resources to explore interests and connect to potential opportunities. Between the Greene Center and the university, there is no shortage of events, opportunities and information sessions, but the average student is only interested in a few types of industries. While many of use do not know our exact future job title, having a general sense of direction helps. Our Career Communities server as an information filter, making it easier to find opportunities that align with your interests. Learn about the seven career communities below to see what you might be curious about:

Consulting, finance, and marketing career community icon

Consulting, Finance & Marketing

Focused on careers that maximize profitability and cost effectiveness, identify operational opportunities and sell goods. Opportunities may include consulting, investment banking, commercial banking, corporate finance, investment management, accounting, actuary, sales, marketing and operations.

Focused on careers utilizing technology, research, data analysis and programming to inform decisions, solve complex problems, and drive innovation at established corporations, start-up firms and government/nonprofit organizations. Opportunities may include engineering, technology, programming, data analysis, physical and natural science research, and sustainability.

Focused on serving the public interest, analyzing and setting policy, and ensuring fundamental rights are upheld at the local, state, national and international level. Opportunities may include serving students and the community through law, intelligence, security, policy, advocacy, lobbying, diplomacy, public service, and education at think tanks, nonprofit, governmental and educational institutions.
