First & Second Year
Humanities and Social Science PhD students are welcome to register for CASC 504: PhD Careers & Internship Prep, a 2 credit course to explore your career interests.
You will become eligible for InternPhD for one summer term prior to graduation upon completion of CASC 504.
Participate in self-guided, asynchronous modules on Blackboard to help facilitate skill exploration and career conversations.
– Graduate Career Modules are available in Blackboard for PhD students.
Take PathwayU, ImaginePhD and/or My IDP Science Careers assessments to learn about your interests, values, workplace preferences.
– ImaginePhD and My IDP Science Careers are based on disciplines but both are similar in terms of resources and assessments provided and are focused on PhD students and alumni.
Participate in employer-based projects and job simulations through Forage and InterSect Job Simulations to explore your interests and gain skills.
Build on your skills and knowledge through the use of Coursera for Campus and other free skills-building opportunities listed on the Greene Center website.
Partner with a Greene Center Career Advisor on your personalized job search, including multiple career pathways.
– Schedule an appointment with David Cota-Buckhout, Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement & Career Support who works specifically with graduate students through Handshake!
Attend Office of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs (GEPA) events and Greene Center Signature Events to explore careers and connect with alumni, as well as Career Expos to connect with employers.
– Learn about these opportunities through Handshake and CCC.
Update your CV with your undergraduate and graduate experiences, presentations, research, and accomplishments.
– Review your CV with a Career Advisor through a scheduled appointment on Handshake.
