JOB DESCRIPTION
The middle school math teacher will be responsible for providing a student-centered, supportive approach in mathematics instruction for students in grades 6-8.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides direct instruction to students in mathematics.
- Develop an ongoing working knowledge of each individual student’s educational and emotional needs.
- Effectively collaborate with learning specialists to integrate recommended teaching strategies into content area classes.
- Communicates with parents to address learning concerns of students.
- Provides individual student assessment as needed and uses assessment to guide future instruction.
- Shows evidence of adapting and differentiated instruction for all students.
- Maintains complete and accurate records that are reflective of a student’s performance and growth in knowledge.
- Develops and maintains genuine, positive and consistent communication with parents.
- Contributes to and benefits from the campus community.
- Practices professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection and continuous improvement.
- Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs and activities.
- Attends departmental meetings to collaborate with peer teachers on a holistic approach to student support.
- Other duties as assigned.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Education or related field is required for consideration.
- 6-8 Teaching Certification or K-8 Teaching Certification
- A plus:
- Special Education Teaching Certification.
- Experience with students with learning differences and ADHD is a plus as well as mentoring experience.
- Responsive Classroom Experience preferred.
- The ideal candidate is outgoing, well organized, competent in basic computer skills, and is an individual who is eager to work in a highly dynamic, energetic school setting.
