GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK
HVAC provides instruction with an approved training curriculum and materials. Instructors provide assessments of students through applicable monitoring and reporting processes. HVAC instructors ensure adherence to all safety standards and practices, including oversight, care, and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and materials. HVAC instructors continuously promote all energy efficiency incentive programs by building awareness and understanding of program requirements among vendors, suppliers, builders, and residential and commercial customers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the field or discipline; stay current in subject matter through professional development, involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conferences or workshops.
- Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning; employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students, including strategies to meet diverse students’ needs.
- Teach classes as assigned in an environment within the field or discipline as needed.
- Serve on the district, divisional, and program committees as assigned, and participate in meetings and events as required.
- Contribute to program and division curriculum development processes.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver quality classroom instruction based on the approved curricula in lecture and/or laboratory formats.
- Ensure that all classes start and end at the prescribed times.
- Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
- Maintain accurate daily attendance records and communicate attendance concerns to the Principal.
- Provide students with academic support, tutoring, and skills enhancement.
- Prepare and organize the lesson materials, equipment, and training area.
- Develop training aids and projects relevant to the subject matter taught.
- Motivate students to participate in all aspects of their educational process actively.

- Deliver approved curriculum to students daily
- Provide regular, accurate, and timely feedback to students and the school concerning academics, behavior, attendance, etc.
- Other duties assigned
- Participates in and provides business partners for the CTE Advisory Board.
- Sponsors the local chapter of their respective CTSO (Career & Technical Student Organization); Encourages and assists students in competition preparation.
- Coordinates and oversees WBL experiences.
- Fosters workplace readiness skills by strategically integrating Virginia’s 5Cs into daily lesson plans.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must be eligible for the appropriate Virginia teacher license. Minimum of three years of field experience in heating, air conditioning, and/or refrigeration, responsible experience working in the industry, and knowledge of servicing, troubleshooting, and installing residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Bachelor’s degree preferred, An understanding of control systems, as well as working knowledge of industrial HVAC systems, is a plus strong written and verbal communication skills, and PC literate, enjoy working with a diverse group of students

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
11 months (240 days); 8 hours per day
EVALUATION
Performance evaluation will be conducted annually by the School Principal on the effectiveness by which the employee has carried out the above responsibilities.
