Greene Center and Career Community Programs

Hands-on Clinical Rotation for Healthcare Professions | Thursday, February 22 from 12-2pm in the May Room, Wilson Commons 

Rotate through three different hands-on clinical opportunities including, suturing, citizens CPR, and “Stop the Bleed” training! You will get the opportunity to gain knowledge and skill of the area along with practical hands-on experience, so come join us next week in the May Room! Registration is strongly suggested.

Alumni Connected and Featured Opportunities

MCAT Scholarship Application from ProtonGuru | Applications due February 20

Applications are currently open for up to full tuition scholarships to the MCAT Ladder test preparation programs.  We are especially trying to get scholarships to students from groups underrepresented in health professions, first-generation college students, and all students with any financial need, or who have shown high academic achievement. Scholarships are available for both On-demand and instructor-guided intensive programs (8- or 14-week) with official AAMC resources and thousands of practice questions assigned.

Current applications are due February 20 and early applicants have an advantage because awards will be made on a rolling basis. The application should only take around 10 minutes to complete, but to apply and to find more information, check out their website here.

2024 Summer Enrichment Program at UMass Chan Medical School | Applications due March 1

Are you interested in pursuing a career in the health profession? Attend this tuition-free, four-week residential program to improve your qualifications and competitive standing for admission to professional, graduate and/or medical school. Intended for undergraduate sophomores and juniors who graduated from a Massachusetts high school or who attend one of our partner universities, this program is open to U.S. citizens or those with permanent resident status.

2024 Summer Undergraduate Research Program at UMass Chan Medical School | Applications due March 1 

You’ll gain hands-on laboratory research experience with an investigator serving as a mentor, role model and advisor in this non-credit,10-week program. You’ll gain in-depth exposure to current biomedical research and create career-building connections with researchers, post docs, graduate students and peers. As a summer research fellow, you’ll receive a $4,000 stipend. Travel and local housing are paid for and arranged by the program. This program is for U.S. citizens or permanent residents. You need to be at least 18 years of age to apply. The Summer Undergraduate Research Program is funded by the National Institute of Health and UMass Chan Provost’s Office Summer Undergraduate Research Experience.

In this session, you will learn a better understanding of your professional brand, how (and why) to make the most of your LinkedIn profile, and how LinkedIn as a tool can help connect you to opportunities. Tarin Rickett (‘18, B.A. Brain & Cognitive Sciences and Computer Science) is a Staff Software Engineer on LinkedIn’s Growth team in San Francisco. When not coding and testing new user experiences, she spends time as a LinkedIn Coach, introducing newcomers to the platform to close the network gap. She is a strong believer in the strength of mentorship and volunteers with organizations like TechWomen and the Women’s Alliance for Knowledge Exchange to uplift fellow women in tech worldwide.

Networking Success: Tips for Rochester Connects Events and More | Wednesday, February 21 from 5-6pm, Havens Lounge – Wilson Commons

Join the Greene Center for networking tips when attending events, and how to follow up after conversations as you prepare for the next steps in your internship, research, and job hunt! There will also be pizza, so register here! This event is going to help prepare you for the “Rochester Connects” event happening Wednesday, February 28th from 6pm-9pm at Mercantile on Main. The event on the 28th is also a Free Event for Students! We encourage students who do not have their own vehicle to take the red line to the Eastman Living Center and the orange line home to River Campus for the event on the 28th. Please refer to the shuttle schedule here.

Rochester Connects | Wednesday, February 28 from 6-9pm at Mercantile on Main

Rochester Connects is an evening of networking, bringing together all alumni and students in the spirit of ‘One University’, to make personal and professional connections, and to demonstrate the power of building and leveraging their networks. The event will take place on Wednesday, February 28th, 6pm-9pm at Mercantile on Main (240 East Main Street). Students should come dressed in business casual attire (no jeans or t-shirts). This is also a Free Event for Students!

We encourage students who do not have their own vehicle to take the red line to the Eastman Living Center and the orange line home to River Campus. Please refer to the shuttle schedule for more information. Please register for the event using this website here.
