All things “CPT” and more!

Hi folks, happy Thursday! For this months blog, we wanted to highlight a handful of different topics including: CPT, upcoming ISO events, Career Week, and other resources.

Curricular Practical Training (CPT):

The CPT application process can seem tricky at first, but there are a few things you’ll want to remember while your preparing to apply.

  • Your internship will need to be related to your major and you need an offer letter that includes (click here to view a sample offer letter)
    • Exact Start/End dates
    • Location (in-person, state, city, remote, etc) and address
    • Hours per week,  “x>=20hrs/week” in the summer or “x<=20hrs/week” in the academic year
  • You’ll need to complete a learning agreement for the Greene Center
    • This will include a meeting with an advisor in the Greene Center, reviewing your paperwork, and getting you registered for CASC 394i.
  • The whole process takes 1-2 weeks to get approved, and you must be approved before you start working!

There are a couple different steps to the application process beyond these tips, and this is where the Greene Center and ISO can help support you. ISO holds in-person and virtual workshops that go over things like CPT, OPT, their processes, and more. You can also view these recordings after the fact. You can find those events on their main page here. We highly recommend getting in touch with your ISO advisor if you have more questions about the entire process. And if you have any questions about the “academic” side of things, you can reach out to Kellie Hernandez from the Greene Center
