Alumni Connected and Featured Opportunities

Occupational Health Internship Program | Applications due January 26

The Occupational Health Internship Program (OHIP) is a full time, paid summer internship designed to link the skills and interests of students with the needs of workers employed in an under-served or high hazard job. Teams of two interns are assigned to a union or worker organization where they receive supervision from a designated staff member and an academic mentor. Each team project is designed to maximize contact between workers and interns to learn about the hazards and other realities of work. As part of the process of researching hazards, interns interview workers, conduct focus groups, attend union/worker organization meetings, and observe workers on the job. As a result, students gain an understanding of the complexity of the work environment and learn about the importance of health and safety in relation to work.

Undergraduate students, graduate students, and students of both who have graduated up to six months prior to the June 24th start date are welcome to apply here.

St. Jude’s Pediatric Oncology Education (POE) Program | Application due February 1

The POE program offers a unique opportunity for students preparing for careers in the biomedical sciences, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, psychology, or public health to gain biomedical and oncology research experience. The POE program provides a short-term training experience (summer internship) in either laboratory research or clinical research. Depending on their special interests, trainees will spend their rotations in a clinical research or a laboratory research setting. Trainees will be matched with a faculty mentor who shares their research interests and will participate in the mentor’s ongoing research projects.
