Women’s Community update and celebrating Hispanic and Latina women!

Welcome to the Greene Center Women’s Community! I’m Amber Graham, our director of data and operations, and your author for this month’s post. You can look forward to hearing from me and my colleague Cait Larson monthly, as we both work to support all women students. We are also excited to ensure that our coverage of women’s career issues is intersectional, and brings forward the lived experiences for women of color, women with disabilities, women in nontraditional career paths, and international women.

Celebrating Hispanic and Latina Women

In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month’s conclusion next week, we focus this month’s blog recommendations on highlighting some great Latina women!

3 Ways to Grow Your Career as a Latina by Vida Forrest y Salazar, LinkedIn Learning
Salazar highlights 3 big tips for new and seasoned Latinas in the workplace, as well as the work of diplomat and entrepreneur Claudia Romo Edelman.

Career Advice from Four Trailblazing Latinas at the Top of Their Game, by Jane Hanson, Forbes
Meet Sandra Campos, Melissa Gonzalez, Keyla Lazardi, and Lilliana Vasquez, amazing women in power positions in entrepreneurship, experiential retail, science & cosmetics, and healthcare. They share a variety of tips specifically for Latinas in the American workforce.

Leadership Program Spring 2024

We also wanted to highlight the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement’s Spring University Leadership Network, which “aims to provide high-potential students with the access, insight, and professional development opportunities to reach their career goals. As part of the program, students also build social capital by connecting with HACE corporate partners, which helps grow a dynamic and inclusive workforce.” While the fall program has already launched, the Spring session will kick off in March and includes a variety of sessions on personal branding, resumes, networking, interviews, negotiating, work-life integration, and personal finance.

Upcoming Events

There’s always events specifically for women on our Women’s Community page, including Women in Supply Chain, Siemens @ SWE Conference, Women in Quants, Forté Women of Color Leadership Symposium, and Women in STEM all taking place in the next month!

Next month, Cait will focus in on entrepreneurship and tech for women, we hope you will check it out!
