Here is a brief program overview:
The organization aims to build upon strengths in the local community, improve health and quality of life for vulnerable individuals, and prepare future citizen service leaders. We do this through 4 main initiatives:
- Health Partner Program — pairing fellows with vulnerable individuals to provide healthy relationships, support healthy behaviors and navigate their healthcare.
- Community Center Program — providing a secure space for those suffering from chronic physical or mental illness. We provide activities, a meal and a place for exercise.
- Youth Program — run a summer program, after school academic program, provide one-on-one math support for elementary school students, and provide ACT prep for high school students.
- Community Engagement Sites — help with community business and organization once a week.
This is also combined with a curriculum focused on leadership, medical ethics and effective patient interactive skills.
Some program specifics:
The fellowship program spans from June 2024 to July 2025. The organization provides housing and a monthly educational stipend covering gas, food and leisure activities.
There is also an internship program with a more flexible schedule, but usually occurs for 8 weeks in the summer.
