JOB TITLE: Seasonal Sports Program Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Recreation Coordinator

SALARY RANGE: $16.50-$19.00 per hour

SUMMARY:

The Seasonal Sports Program Coordinator position is an integral part of the Town of Wellington Parks and Recreation and is responsible for the on-site coordination and management of recreation services, programs, and events. The position will report to the Recreation Coordinators.

TYPICAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The below list is intended to be illustrative of the responsibilities of the position and not all- encompassing. The Town may change these duties at any time.

  • Assist in the preparation and oversight of Wellington Parks and Recreation programs, services, and special events.
  • Prepare gym/field for play by setting up equipment such as goals, bases, nets, etc.
  • Assist with field maintenance where needed, such as field painting, dirt preparation, chalking, and mowing when necessary.
  • Assist in the development of new recreation programs and provide input when adjustments need to be made to existing programs.
  • Work effectively and productively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Assist in maintaining and organizing inventories for all parks and recreation storage facilities.
  • Score keep for multiple sports including but not limited to softball, kickball, bubble soccer, Archery Attack, and volleyball.
  • Learn registration software and be able to assist customers with registrations, payments, issuing refunds, sending emails, etc. for all Wellington Parks and Recreation Activities
  • Explain and enforce facility and/or program rules, policies, and procedures while positively representing the Town of Wellington Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Provide excellent customer service to, guests, participants, and the public in all situations.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions in spring, summer and/or fall seasons.
  • May be subject to noise, dust, and high and low temperatures.
  • Frequent physical activity including, but not limited to, reaching, bending over, climbing, looking up, down and side to side, walking, sitting, standing, talking, seeing, hearing, and manual dexterity.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must pass criminal history check.
  • Must pass motor vehicle records check.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must participate in direct deposit.

START DATE: Immediately upon successful background, motor vehicle, and drug test.

WORKING HOURS: Variable including weekdays, afternoons, evening, nights, weekends, and holidays.

DURATION: This position is defined as seasonal with funding through the end of the year (12/2025). However, this position could be retained with continued funding and need.
