DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Commercial Equipment Finance department provides tax and non-tax equipment lease financing for a variety of equipment types. Our Government Banking Portfolio team oversees the financing of equipment needed for the municipalities within M&T Bank’s footprint.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
During your first year with the team, you’ll learn alongside the Government Banking Portfolio team to provide accounting, reporting and customer service support for the greater Commercial Equipment Finance department. You’ll participate in moderately complex projects, and lead department projects as assigned. The goal is to ensure you gain an understanding of the Government Banking financing model. There is also travel 20% of the time associated with this role. Other responsibilities with this position could include:
• Participate regionally in the formal relationship planning process
• Follow equipment and market trends and provide updates on changes in accounting rules and trends
• Collaborate with team and operate as a resident solution partner or business development manager for transactional opportunities, identify, process and close equipment financing opportunities that meet the Bank’s credit and profitability guidelines

You’ll spend your first year with the team learning about Government Banking and the different products we offer customers within our communities. Our team will provide you with the tools needed to manage a large portion of our Government Banking portfolio within the next few years. Due to the growth within this department, there are other career paths available to you post-Program.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree (or Master’s) candidate with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
• Work visa sponsorship not offered for this role
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree (or Master’s) candidate in Finance, or Accounting
• Ability to interact professionally with all levels of the Bank including peers as well as senior management
• Knowledge and strong ability with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Demonstrated ability to maintain client relationships, comfortable with travel
• Desire to prepare for a future management/leadership role within the next three-five years
