International Student Search Series

This three-part series is designed specifically for International Students who are looking to navigate the internship and job market in the United States. By attending all three sessions, you will learn how to develop a strategy for your job and internship search, how to network in the U.S. and why it is important for propelling you toward career success, and how to leverage the resources available to you while at the University of Rochester.

Developing Your Strategy

Learn from the Greene Center how to navigate the US Internship & Job Market. In this hour-long session you’ll learn:

  • What services the Greene Center has to offer.
  • How to build competencies during your time here at UR.
  • Prepare for internship and job searches along with US norms.
  • Know about your visa and work authorization status.

Networking Essentials

Learn about how to network in the United States and why it is important for propelling you toward career success. In this hour-long session you’ll learn:

  • Why building a network is important.
  • What steps go into building your network.
  • How career conversations are structured and how to secure a conversation.
  • How to create networking notes to connect with employers and alumni.
  • What resources are available at the University of Rochester to help you network.

Maximizing Resources

Learn how to maximize the resources available to you at the University of Rochester. In this hour-long session you’ll learn:

  • How to use Interstride in your job search.
  • How to use Handshake in your job search to help identify companies that hire international students.
  • How Forage can help you complete employer projects at leading US companies.
  • How Quinncia can help you with mock interviews and resume feedback through advanced AI resume reading.
  • How The Meliora Collective mentorship program can help you in your future internship and job search.
