University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry Student National Medical Association Pre-Health Conference | Saturday, February 28, 8am-4pm

Schwartz Community Based Internships | Applications Due by February 22 on Handshake
These internships are part of the Schwartz Community Based Internships. This premier opportunity allows UR undergraduate students to access traditionally unpaid opportunities that highlight the value of the humanities in the workplace. If selected, students will receive a $5,000 stipend over a minimum 270-hour period in a non-for-profit organization in the Rochester, NY region. Learn more about the program here.
Epilepsy Camp Counselor at Empowering People’s Independence (EPI) – Provide services to people with epilepsy with a special focus on summer camps for adults with epilepsy and intellectual and developmental disabilities and children with epilepsy. This internship will also offer other opportunities including projects to advance Epilepsy Services Department’s initiatives as well as participation in virtual self-management groups for adults with epilepsy, seizure recognition and first aid training, Epilepsy Support Group (In person & virtual), and Fundraising events. Internship can be remote during the time when camps are not in session.
People Operations Intern at Trillium Health – Join us and be part of a mission-driven team that prioritizes innovation, collaboration, and continuous development. The People Operations Intern will support the People Operations team in administrative and operational tasks, gaining hands-on experience in HR processes, compliance, and recruitment. This summer internship is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Human Resources.
Disaster Cycle Services Mass Care Internship at American Red Cross – The Disaster Cycle Services department works in partnership with governmental and community partners through all parts of the disaster cycle – preparedness, response, and recovery. The Mass Care team in particular is responsible for supporting response efforts of Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Emergency Support Function #6 including, sheltering, feeding, reunification, distribution of emergency supplies, and disability integration.
2026 NIH Office of Science Policy Summer Internship Program with Hire Rochester Talent | Applications Due by February 27
The OSP Summer Internship Program provides an opportunity for two (2) undergraduate, graduate, and/or professional students to gain tangible science policy experience in support of the NIH mission. Interns will work side-by-side with leading policy experts to learn strategies for advancing national science and technology policy and obtain practical experience in policy analyses and development. OSP will be hosting interns for an 8–12-week period beginning in May or June 2026. Interns will receive a stipend commensurate with their level of education. There are two positions available:
- OSP Science Policy Coordination, Collaboration, and Reporting Division: This intern will create and contribute to high-impact policy materials that reach communities inside the NIH and across the scientific enterprise.
- OSP Innovation Policy Division: This intern would work on cross-cutting policy efforts that support a broad range of innovation, promote access to the fruits of NIH-funded research, and help the agency fulfill its mission of promoting the application of knowledge to enhance human health.

Health Professions Application Essays Writing Group | Fridays from 2-4pm (Check Link for Location)
Planning to apply to a health professions program (e.g., medical, dental, nursing, physical therapy, etc.)? Join a supportive group designed to help you craft strong, thoughtful application essays. Each session offers structured time to set goals, write without distractions, and reflect on your progress. We’ll also have occasional workshops on topics like researching your audience, identifying what your audience is looking for in the prompt, showcasing your experiences and reflections, and finding sources of feedback relevant to your field. While this is primarily tailored to health professions applications, students applying to graduate school or other advanced programs are also welcome and can benefit. NYMC Biological Sciences Graduate Programs & Career Pathways Virtual Info Session | Wednesday, February 18 at 4pm
Our graduates build their careers in research, academia, medicine, pharmaceutical, biotechnology or other biomedical science industries – or in the government or not for profit sectors related to these fields. Join us to meet our Program Directors and learn about our programs and careers in six Biomedical Science Disciplines: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Microbiology and Immunology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology.
