Job Search in the US: Networking Essentials | Friday, September 12 from 1-2pm in Dewey Hall Room 2162
This is the second of a three-part series specifically for students looking to work in the United States. Learn about how to network in the United States and why it is important for propelling you toward career success. In this hour-long session you’ll learn:
- Why building a network is important.
- What steps go into building your network.
- How career conversations are structured and how to secure a conversation.
- How to create networking notes to connect with employers and alumni.
- What resources are available at the University of Rochester to help you network.

“Look Your Best” Career Clothing Pop-Up! | Thursday, September 18 between 1-3pm in May Room, Wilson Commons
Achieve your best look by attending Meliora Weekend’s haircut event and select a professional outfit at the same time! In partnership with Alumni Relations and Constituent Engagement, the Greene Center is hosting a clothing pop-up event to help you dress for success. Stop by and browse our selection of career wear, generously provided by our network of donors. We will have suits, dress pants, dress shirts, skirts, shoes, and accessories available. Pick out an outfit all for FREE!

Meliora Weekend 2025: CWRU Developing a Strong Medical School Application | Thursday, September 18 from 3:30-4:30 in Dewey Hall, Greene Center Conference Room
This info session is designed to support current UR students who are interested in medicine, healthcare, or biomedical research. Jason Buitrago, Executive Director of Enrollment Management at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, will share information about the programs at CWRU School of Medicine and offer general insights and resources for pre-health and pre-med students pursuing these fields. Meliora Weekend 2025: Connect & Elevate An Afternoon of Networking and Fellowship | Friday, September 19 from 3:30-5:30 in LeChase Hall, Genrich-Rusling Room
The Alumni Affinity Networks (Women’s Network, Black Alumni Network, Latin Alumni Network, First-Generation Network, and LGBTQ+ Network ) encourage you to join us for an afternoon of networking and fellowship, specifically for students, alumni, and parents. This gathering is proudly presented by the Office of Mentoring and Student Advocacy, the David T. Kearns Center, and the Gwen M. Greene Center for Career Education.
This event serves as a reminder of the University’s commitment to supporting and encouraging our campus community to explore potential educational and career paths, in addition to creating opportunities for students to network with our distinguished alumni. Employer Road Trip: American Red Cross Biomedical Laboratory | Friday, September 26, 1-2:30pm
Do you want to see where all of the blood collected by the American Red Cross in NYS is processed?
Join us for a tour of the West Henrietta Blood Donation Center, Biomedical Laboratory, and John Street facility. We will cover a brief history of the Red Cross in Western, NY and show you where all the blood that is collected by the American Red Cross in New York State is processed into blood products to help support our nationwide effort to supply 40% of our nation’s blood. You will follow the blood journey from start to finish. Transportation will be provided. Be sure to register here, as space is limited!

TalentFEST connects job seekers with leading employers from across the Greater Rochester region in a a high-energy career fair. Not only will we have a stellar list of employers present, but we will also have great entertainment, including a mechanical bull, the Seneca Park Zoo Mobile, mini golf, a photo booth, and excellent food trucks! Graduate School Application Essays Writing Group | Every Friday 2-4pm in RRL G121-B, Conference Room B
Planning to apply to graduate school? Join a supportive group designed to help you craft strong, thoughtful application essays. Each session offers structured time to set goals, write without distractions, and reflect on your progress. We’ll also have occasional workshops on topics like researching your audience, identifying what your audience is looking for in the prompt, showcasing the growth of your research interests, and finding sources of feedback relevant to your field. While this is primarily tailored to graduate school applications, students applying to medical school or other advanced programs are also welcome and can benefit.
