Career Conversations: Breaking professional inertia
Tuesday, May 13
Noon – 1 p.m. (ET)
Virtual Event
Why is knowing what to do in our careers so much easier than actually doing it?
Whether you’re feeling stuck in your current role or frustrated by your job search, you’re not alone—and there’s a way forward.
Join fellow Rochester alumni for a powerful, interactive virtual workshop led by leadership and executive coach Alex Pearlman ’07. You’ll explore the science behind professional inertia and learn how to move from analysis to action.
In this workshop, you’ll:
• Uncover why motivation lags, even when you know what needs to change
• Discover where you stand with a self-assessment
• Learn a proven decision framework to clarify your next move
• Walk away with actionable strategies to break the inertia
Bonus:
Before the event, you are encouraged to take Alex’s self-determination compass—a 10–15 minute assessment that offers personalized insights into your motivational strengths and growth areas. The assessment link will be shared in your registration confirmation email.
Come prepared to get the most out of the session. Aggregate results will be shared and discussed live.
